Classroom application

I think the main thing that I would add to my curriculum is something about the Boise WaterShed treatment process.  I think a lot of students don't know where the water goes once it his down the sink, or how it is cleaned. Not sure how I'm going to add it, but I am definitely going to  start my environemental health unit with the importance of clean water.    What is one thing that you want to apply to your class?

I think that it is very important to hammer home to the students the importance of clean water and how the lack of it would affect us. Many of our students come from rural towns where irrigation is all around them, while others are in the city where many parks have running water fountain areas for kids to play in. I think it would be very useful for students to research the area around them and find out how the water is reclaimed. They can also look at the aquifer under the area they live and find out how long that will last if the water is not reclaimed. There was plenty of news last year about different areas in California where people couldn't use water. They could write up an essay as to what that would feel like.
