On-line Adventurer Responsibilities?

Submitted by Randy Boyd on Mon, 2017-06-19 00:00

Hello out there!! I'm one of the "On-Line Adventerers" and I'm a little unsure of what my responsibilities are.  I've done all the required reading and viewed all the videos but I I don't quite know what to do with the blogs since I'm not a part of the actual activities and don't know what is actually discussed each day.  I feel like I'm a little out of the loop.  I check this site, Flipgrid, and iNaturalist quite often but I'm not quite sure how to participate.  Any help?

Thanks a bunch.  Talk to you all later.

Hi Bobbi and Randy,

Thanks for the good questions and letting us know you are in need of some support.  So far, your posts and replies to what has been uploaded by the group have been excellent.  The goal of this blog (along with the iNaturalist and flipgrid) is to build an online discussion about what we are experiencing throughout the week.

Posting your own questions, responding to ours, etc. with emphasis on students and how the issues we are exploring each day can be delivered in the classroom is the primary goal.  Check out Josh's post from last night, for instance.  He ended his post with a few GREAT, open-ended questions that are designed to spark some dialogue about crucial aspects of delivering place-based education lesson plans.  This is a great spot for you as a digital adventurer to respond with any tips, advice, experiences you have had as a teacher, or other input you have from your perspective elsewhere in the state.

That way, when we read your response, and hopefully responses from other digital adventurers, we can all learn as a collective team about how to best incorporate this style of education in our classrooms.

I hope this helps!  Keep up the good work.  We are really excited to have such involved digital team-members.  :)  Today we will be going in and out of cell service, so posts will likely be a bit more active (yesterday we had no cell serviec).

Cheers,

Jamie

Do we have a specific "project" in iNaturalist where we should share our posts? When we did this in Pocatello, we shared with the "MILES Adventure Learning" project; should I continue to use that?

Hi Eric,

Great question. Yes, please continue to post to the iNaturalist project MILES Adventure Learning. We added some observations to the project today!
