MILES and the Future of Water in Idaho

Future water availability is an issue that weighs heavy on my mind, so I believe the research that MILES is doing with the Boise River Basin and other water systems is paramount. Legislators and other decision-makers need information to make the best decisions for the future of Idaho, and admit that they do not have adequate information. Without scientific data on water availability and use, they cannot make decisions that promote proper use of Idaho water and land. The population of the Treasure Valley is growing quickly and this, along with pressure from climate change and other factors, means that water scarcity is a real possibility if policymakers do not have reliable and adequate data. The work MILES is doing to collect data, predict future conditions, and inform decision-makers will promote a more livable Idaho with adequate resources and preserved ecosystems.
