Telling stories in science: a great TED talk and article

Talking about telling stories today reminded me of on of my favorite TED talks. Beau Lotto, a British neuroscientist, worked with a class of 8-10 year olds to “make a game” (= design an experiment) to study bee behavior. After experimenting, they met in the local pub to write their paper, which begins “Once upon a time….” The talk is at https://www.ted.com/talks/beau_lotto_amy_o_toole_science_is_for_everyone_kids_included

Their scientific paper was published in the Royal Society’s “Biology Letters,” and can be found at http://rsbl.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/7/2/168 . These are the youngest scientists to have a peer-reviewed article in a scientific journal!
