How am I going to integrate this into my classroom

I have been thinking a lot about how I am going to integrate this into my classroom. THis morning when we went to the Edwards farm I had no idea that it was the family farm of one of my teaching colleagues from Kuna high school, Travis Edwards. Travis is in the Ag dept. and teaches a lot of the plant based ag classes. I have always wanted to make a pollinators garden to attract more birds and butterflies to the school. We got some great ideas from our stop at Roosevelt school where we looked at there garden and did a crick pollinator activity. I talked to Travis about my idea and found out he has been wanting to do the same thing in the exact area that I thought would be a great spot. I really hope that this comes to fruition because I think it would be an outstanding activity for kids and has so much potential for integrating some of the concepts I learned about this week.  I am really looking forward to doing some activities with digi-storytelling. It is really kind of funny because I was very nervous about doing this assignment.

It must have been fate that brought all this together. I think this would be a great co-project between the greenhouse class and some ornithology students.  You could also put together groupings of plants that are the most advantageous to pollinators and sell them as a lot during their greenhouse sale in the spring.  That way you could get the community into make small pollinator gardens.  The kids could put together a little video explaining the purpose and the best way to integrate the plants into their existing gardens.  Students learning, helping wildlife and educating the community, I bet you could even get a grant for something like this!  Great idea, Allen!
